Manu Bar & Grill
Project Overview
Constructing the Hype Before the Building
Manu Bar & Grill is set to redefine nightlife in Randolph, MA, with a high-end small-plate concept debuting in March 2025. However, with the physical space still a construction zone, the owners faced a critical pre-opening void: they needed to generate buzz and secure a talented staff in a tight labor market without a finished venue to show off.
The mission was to create a digital "teaser trailer." We needed to launch a sleek, purpose-built microsite that felt as upscale as the concept itself, turning pre-launch curiosity into a concrete list of email subscribers and qualified job applicants while laying the technical groundwork for the full website rollout.
Challenges & Goals
The Challenges
Asset Void: Launching a brand presence with zero real photography and no finalized menu required a creative visual strategy to communicate "upscale tapas" without being misleading.
Staffing Crisis: In a competitive hospitality market, the site had to do more than inform; it had to actively recruit staff months before the opening.
Future Scalability: The architecture needed to support a simple landing page now but allow for the seamless activation of full menus and galleries later without a rebuild.
The Goals
Visual Credibility: Design a monochrome "Coming Soon" aesthetic using bold contrast and curated stock imagery to evoke a craft-cocktail culture immediately.
Hiring Engine: Implement a persistent and frictionless "Join Our Team" funnel to capture resumes directly through the CMS.
Performance: Achieve sub-second load times and WCAG-AA accessibility to maximize engagement across all devices and demographics.
Strategy & Approach
Phase 1: Monochrome Minimalism
To overcome the lack of assets, I adopted a strict Black (#000) and White (#fff) palette. This high-contrast approach, paired with full-bleed, dimmed stock imagery, allowed us to set a dramatic, upscale mood suitable for a lounge atmosphere. It creates instant brand recognition consistent with their print flyers and social previews.
Phase 2: The Recruitment & Growth Layer
We treated the navigation as a funnel for two specific goals: Hiring and Marketing. A persistent "Join Our Team" tab links to a native application form, while a VIP signup widget sits directly below the hero section. This ensures every visitor is prompted to engage, not just browse.
Phase 3: Technical Future-Proofing
Behind the scenes, I structured the CMS with hidden "shells" for the About, Contact, and Gallery pages. I also configured LocalBusiness schema and Randolph, MA location data. This means when the restaurant is ready to fully launch, the site can expand instantly without losing the SEO equity built during the "Coming Soon" phase.
