Project Overview
Bringing Mayan Vibrance to Harmony
Los Mayas, a casual Mexican eatery in Harmony, PA, prides itself on authentic Mayan-inspired cuisine and a festive atmosphere. However, their digital presence lacked the flavor of their physical location. They needed a website that could balance a bright, heritage-rich aesthetic with the functionality required to run a modern restaurant—driving online orders, reservations, and catering inquiries without overwhelming the visitor.
The mission was to create an inviting digital home that celebrated their roots. We needed to translate the vibrant colors and "papel picado" motifs of the restaurant into a user-friendly interface, ensuring that the brand personality shone through while delivering a seamless experience for diners looking to book a table or order tacos to-go.

Visual Balance: The client wanted a high-energy design featuring bright colors and festive flags, which risked becoming visually chaotic if not executed with restraint.
Operational Integration: The site needed to serve as a central hub for multiple operational needs—Online Ordering, Reservations, Catering, and Reviews—within the Popmenu CMS architecture.
Local Visibility: To attract diners in the Harmony area, the site needed robust local SEO to rank for specific terms like "Mayan-inspired Mexican cuisine."
The Goals
Brand Alignment: Develop a custom palette (Yellow, Orange, Pink, Blue) and typography system that reflects the restaurant's authentic heritage and "fun" vibe.
Action-Oriented UX: Structure the homepage into six clear, distinct sections (Welcome, Menu, Specials, Catering, Location, Reviews) to guide user behavior.
Reputation Management: Integrate a specific "Leave a Review" prompt to drive higher engagement and build social proof on Google and third-party platforms.
Strategy & Approach
Phase 1: Festive Branding
We developed a custom color palette drawn directly from the logo—Yellow (#FFF46B), Orange (#CA4D00), Pink (#FF458F), and Blue (#01499B). To balance personality with readability, we paired the decorative display font Caesar Dressing for headlines with the highly legible serif Marcellus for body text.
Phase 2: Structured UX Design
We avoided the "wall of text" approach by segmenting the homepage into six actionable blocks. From the Hero Banner with a bold "Order Online" CTA to the embedded Google Map, every section was designed to answer a specific user question. We also crafted a narrative "About Us" page to celebrate the Mayan roots and locally sourced ingredients.
Phase 3: Technical SEO
We leveraged Popmenu’s CMS to integrate live menu data, ensuring real-time updates. Behind the scenes, we applied LocalBusiness schema markup and strategically placed keywords like "best tacos near me" and "Harmony PA Mexican food" in headers and meta descriptions to boost local search rankings.
