Fish & Chicks
Project Overview
Bringing Cajun Flavor to the Digital Space
Fish & Chicks, a beloved staple in Cypress, TX, serves up bold, energy-filled Cajun cuisine, but their digital presence told a different story. Until recently, the brand relied solely on a basic Toast ordering landing page. This utilitarian approach failed to capture the vibrant "Southern roots" personality of the restaurant and offered no space to promote their events, food truck, or catering services.
The mission was to build a full-scale digital flagship from scratch. We needed to move beyond simple transaction processing to create an immersive brand experience that reflected their elevated fast-casual vibe while centralizing their diverse operational streams.
Challenges & Goals
The Challenges:
Digital Disconnect: The existing Toast page was functional but "soul-less," failing to communicate the quality or energy of the in-person dining experience.
Operational Fragmentation: There was no centralized hub to handle high-value inquiries for Catering or Food Truck bookings.
Template Limitations: The client liked the structure of standard templates but needed significant customization to avoid looking generic.
The Goals:
Visual Overhaul: Implement a specific "Dark Mode" aesthetic with high-contrast neon accents to match the brand's energy.
Conversion Optimization: Replace default UI elements (circular buttons) with modern, rounded-rectangular CTAs to improve click-through rates.
Service Expansion: Create dedicated, SEO-friendly funnels for the Food Truck, VIP Program, and Hiring to streamline business growth.
Strategy & Approach
Phase 1: Dark-Themed UI Design
To achieve the client's vision of a modern, nightlife-adjacent vibe, we flipped the standard script. We utilized deep Black backgrounds as the canvas, punctuated by electric Teal (#06BABB) and warm Cream (#F1D198) accents pulled directly from their logo. This ensured the food photography popped while maintaining high readability.
Phase 2: Structural Customization
We selected the "On a Roll" framework for its reliability but stripped away its default styling. A key UX decision was to replace the standard circular buttons with rounded-corner rectangles. This subtle shift created a cleaner, more structured interface that aligned better with the brand's "boxed" architectural elements.
Phase 3: The "Three-Pillar" Navigation
We engineered the homepage hero section to drive immediate action via a three-part CTA banner: Order Online, Menu, and Catering. This segmentation ensures that 90% of visitor intent is satisfied within one click of landing on the site.
